Artists offered free exhibit space at I-House
International House Davis offers artists free exhibition space in the Art Deco building at 10 College Park. The Art Committee meets quarterly to review framed submissions and the next review date is Friday, Aug. 9.
Artists, watercolorists and photographers may bring their submissions to I-House the Thursday before the Art Committee meets.
Jeffrey Granett is the chair of the I-House Art Committee.
Photographer Carlos Palacio will show his exhibit “Form and Colors of Colombia” with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12. On Friday, Aug. 9, Bob Sommer’s exhibit, “Farmers’ Market Veggies” will open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m.
“We welcome submissions from members of the public,” Granett
said.Works may hang for up to two months in either the Lounge or the
Community Room or both rooms if there is a great number of works.
International House is open to the public in the summer between 9 a.m.
and 1 p.m. Office hours during winter months are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
I-House offers language classes, dance classes, cooking classes and
more to members of the public and students.
“We are an independent nonprofit open to all,” said Elisabeth Sherwin,
executive director. “We show free international movies the first and
third Friday of the month from September through June. Our series will
begin again on Sept. 6.
“We also have a storytelling program for children and the next will
take place on Sunday, July 21 from 2 to 3 p.m. when I-House favorite
Vicki Crescitelli returns to tell multicultural stories,” she added.
