On Saturday, Nov. 6, a special Indian dinner fundraiser will be held at International House, 10 College Park, Davis, to benefit International House. Mary Philip, known for her great dinners, is a member of the IHD board of directors.
Tickets are $35 each or $250 for a table of eight.
“We are lucky to have Mary on our board and willing to do another of her famous dinners,” said Elisabeth Sherwin, executive director. “Mary is known for the dinners she cooks for nonprofits but this on Nov. 6 is the last of the season. So drop by I-House and buy your tickets.”
Four of the eight tables have already been sold, Sherwin said. The dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social half-hour beginning at 6 p.m.
International House, an independent non-profit, offers classes, movies, events, dances, dance classes, lectures and musical programs throughout the year. On Sept. 25, more than 200 new international students and scholars from UC Davis came to a potluck welcome at I-House.
On Saturday, Nov. 20, I-House will offer its traditional Thanksgiving feast for international students and scholars, visitors and local residents. Tickets are $10 for I-House members, $12 for non-members. Tickets must be purchased in advance by coming to I-House M-F between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
“This is a wonderful dinner for about 100 people,” said Sherwin. “We always sell out so be sure to buy your tickets early.” The dinner will start at 5 p.m. and will consist of turkey, of course, and the fixings including homemade pies baked by a local church.
