Fifth annual Vanderhoef lecture coming on May 29, 2014

Vice Provost Bill Lacy of UC Davis will be the speaker for the fifth annual Vanderhoef International Education lecture.
The talk will be held at International House on Thursday, May 29, with a reception at 6 p.m. and the talk beginning at 6:30 p.m., time approximate. The talk is open to the public.
Last year Mayor Joe Krovoza talked about Davis’ Sister City program, and in 2012 UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi talked about her life as an international student from Greece.
In 2011 Ruth Asmundson talked about her life as a transplant from the Philippines who married a Davis mayor and later became mayor herself.
The speaker series began in 2010 as a way to honor then-Chancellor Larry Vanderhoef who did much to put UC Davis on the map as an “international campus.”
Vice Provost Lacy is retiring at the end of the school year as head of University Outreach and International Programs. His successor will have a new title — Vice Provost of Global Affairs.
‘We welcome Bill as our speaker and say farewell to him sadly. He has long been a supporter of International House and we hope he and his wife, Laura, will continue to come to many of our events,” said Elisabeth Sherwin, executive director.
