International House-Davis is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which promotes respect and appreciation for all people and cultures. We encourage a global community by providing many opportunities for cross-cultural interaction and exchange.
"Art Exhibition - "Art by Committee" (8/8/2008 - 9/10/2008)
This show involves an eclectic collection of art contributed by six gifted artists from the Art Committee of The International House of Davis. Ray Borton will show seascape photographs taken from the Northern California coast. Jeffery Granett will show his linoleum block prints with water color involving subject matter ranging from serious to humorous. Sharna Hoffman will present her Acrylic/Sculptural paintings exemplifying the physical forces of tension, compression, and weightlessness. Marilyn Judson will share her three dimensional paper sculptures of vegetables, flowers and insects. Frank Roe will show selections of photographs from his series entitled, "A Garden of Earthly Delights." And, Elisabeth Sherwin will show color prints (photographs) of scenes from Southern India taken in January 2008.
Arabic class meets only on Tuesdays
I-House is offering one Arabic class per week on Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. A big thank you to our teachers, Ali Mehdi and Rihab al-Shamari!
Potluck on Sept. 13 (Sat)
Join members and friends at 6 p.m. in the Community Room for a delicious potluck, talk with friends, and entertainment.
Bill Shea Talk on "International Aviation" Aug. 4 (Mon)
Woodland resident and aviation expert Bill Shea will give a noon talk at International House, 10 College Park, Davis, on "International Aviation." Coffee and cookies will be served at 11:30 a.m. Brown-baggers are welcome. Bring your questions about all things international aviation-related.
Arabic Classes beginning
If you are interested in taking a class in Arabic, please contact Dr. Ali Almehdi at (530) 979-1563. He will keep a list of names of people interested in meeting at International House on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. for one hour. The class meets in the basement Activities Room.
Storytelling: Vicki Crescitelli - Multi-Cultural Tales, Sunday Sept. 21, 2008
2:00-3:00 p.m., Local storyteller, Vicki Crescitelli returns to I-House to present another lively program of stories from around the world.
Amnesty International meets at I-House
Amnesty International, Group 21, will meet the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at 10 College Park, Davis. At the June 5 meeting, cochaired by Cate Klepacki and Toby Wehrhan, letter-writing to help ease the plight of prisoners of conscience will take place. Join us! The public is invited.
Summer Hours
I-House will switch to summer hours beginning Monday, June 9. The summer hours are from 9 AM - 1 PM Monday - Friday.
Children's International Story-telling
Restarts September 2008. One Sunday afternoon per month, children ages 5 through 10 enjoy storytelling performances with international content at the I-House.

In addition to the events sponsored by I-House, please check the Regional International Calendar for other events with an international or multi-cultural theme held in the region. We welcome the submission of events to be added to the calendar (guidelines apply).
Did You Know?
If you are age 70 1/2 or older you are now allowed to distribute up to $100,000 this year from your IRA to a charity tax-free. By making a gift to I-House Davis from your IRA you can fulfill all or part of your annual distribution and not be taxed on the gift as you would for normal distributions.
