On Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. Don Lotter of Davis will give a free talk at I-House open to the public. Title: Working on food security and environmental sustainability in Tanzania.
Dr. Lotter will show slides and talk about his work in a food insecure region of Tanzania that is rapidly being deforested for cooking fuel and suffers crop failures due to drought. His projects include turning agricultural waste into pelletized cooking fuel and using the pellets as fuel in low-cost Top-Lit-Up-Draft (TLUD) stoves; as well as testing micro-scale zero-tillage crop production to increase sustainability and productivity.
The public is invited.
