The Children's International Story-telling Programs
Introduction to I-House's story-telling programs, with contact information.
Children's
International Story-telling Programs are held one Sunday afternoon
per month (except in December, June, July and August) in the Community
Room of the International House, 10 College Park, Davis, from 2 to 3
pm. Doors open at 1:45. Each performance features the talents of
various performers from Davis and the surrounding area. Every
performance contains some form of international content. The program is
designed for elementary school children in the 4 to 10 year
range.
Regular activities that families attending these monthly
programs can look forward to, are:
- children receive their own, individual passport to retain and return with to each performance. Individual performers will sign/stamp the passports, monthly.
- the opportunity to find and color-in their individual family home in Davis. We hope that this visual helps to provide children with an introductory, familiar perspective of a more global world. World maps are also available to provide reference to the country or culture to be visited that day, or, for families to find countries and cultures of their own origin.
- other culturally-related activities to participate in, or to take-home according to and specific to each performance.
This Children's International Story-telling Program, is financially
supported by new Family Memberships to I-House, non-member donations at
the door and the generous sponsorships of several of our local
businesses -- A Better Place to Bead, Aesop's Room, Alphabet Moon,
Ben and Jerry's, Mother and Baby Source, The Avid Reader Bookstore, The
Paint Chip. Family Memberships to International House are available
at the International House and may be purchased Monday through Friday,
from 9 am to 4:30 pm. These memberships will also be available at each
performance.
International House, Davis is interested in developing a variety of
international programs and activities for children. Memberships
are a major means of support for International House, contributing
greatly towards expanding the number and variety of children's and
other programs. With membership, you will enjoy the benefits of:
- a monthly newsletter notifying you of all activities, programs and events sponsored by I-House;
- discounts on I-House sponsored events, including Children's Summer Camp;
- free language conversation classes;
- opportunities to form new friendships with Americans and people from around the world.
We hope that you will join us at all the Story-telling Performances
and will consider extending your involvement with I-House to
become a member. The families, schools, organizations and businesses
that support this program financially, and with their attendance and
publicity each year, are greatly appreciated.
