A Druze woman (Mona, played by Clara Khoury) living in the Golan
Heights is engaged to marry a Syrian television star (Tallel, played by
Derar Sliman) whom she has never met but has seen in soap operas. In
order to marry him, she has to give up her passport and leave Israel
and her family forever. We spend a full day with Mona's family, first
in the village of Majdal Shams and then on the border, witnessing all
the complications (some humorous) of political and bureaucratic red
tape that stand in the way of the wedding. But more than that, we get
to know all members of the bride's family and learn how geopolitical
issues play out in ordinary people’s lives. With Hiam Abbass, Makram
Khoury, Ashraf Barhom, Eyad Sheety and Adnan Tarabshi.
