"The Price of Milk" (2000, New Zealand, directed by Harry Sinclair, 87 min.). Refreshments are served at 7:30 p.m., the film begins at 8 p.m. Donations are appreciated. The series is hosted by the United Nations Association of Davis. An eccentric modern-day fairy tale set on and around a New Zealand dairy farm mixes romance and Maori magic, involving spells, supernatural elements, Kiwi humor, the bartering of a quilt for a herd of cows and a dog suffering from agoraphobia.
Perhaps the lush green landscape and romantic early 20th century Russian score played by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra are the film’s most outstanding features. With Lucinda Cormack, Karl Urban, Willa O’Neill, Rangi Motu and Michael Lawrence.
