Friendship Program
Local families invite students and scholars to share in their social and family functions. We are CURRENTLY IN SEARCH of local families who would like to meet an international student or scholar for an occasional outing, coffee, dinner or a movie. The reward is the pleasure of making new friends, learning about other cultures, or even brushing up on a foreign language. It is a wonderful program that requires very little time commitment, and yet has a huge potential for making new, and perhaps, life-long friendships (read more).
The Friendship Program links international visitors, students and scholars with local hosts to share customs, improve their English skills, and add a personal dimension to their experience of studying or working in Northern California.
Local hosts may invite their international visitors for occasional meals, bike rides, walks, sport events, farmer’s markets, movies, trips, holiday celebrations and outings.
All participants in this program are volunteers. Their reward is the satisfactions of making new friends and learning about other cultures and viewpoints, which often results in life-long friendships.
To participate as a visitor or as a local host download the appropriate form (HOST or VISITOR), fill out and mail it to International House·Davis, 10 College Park, Davis, CA 95616 along.
