Nada Brahma Music Ensemble - Saturday March 13 at 7 pm
Please join us at this cultural evening: hear the mystical sounds of ancient music from India, enjoy snacks and drinks, and help to give 160 underprivileged children in India a quality elementary education.
The Nada Brahma Music Ensemble is a Davis-based Indian Classical Fusion group, started by Matthew Grasso, that will treat you on an evening of Raga and Tala. Their music is 100% improvised and is manifested on a unique 25-string raga guitar with the traditional percussion of North India, the tabla. Witness their skill in rhythmic complexity (Tala) expressed in cycles of 4 3⁄4, 9 1⁄4, and 5 1⁄2. The universal tranquility that emanates from the Raga (melody forms) will transport you to another world.
Members:
- Matthew Grasso - 25-stringed raga guitar
- Alex Jenkins - tabla
- Eric Rasmussen - drone guitar
