What’s popular at International House? Dance!
International House Davis is lucky to have talented instructors who give of their time and talent freely to provide salsa, tango, flamenco, sacred circle and kizomba classes.
“Dance indeed is an international language and all classes are free to I-House members and many are free to the public, too,” said Elisabeth Sherwin, executive director.
Sacred Circle Dancing takes place every Sunday in November 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. taught by Joan Rawles. Dances are simple and each one is taught before the class begins. Free to the public!
On Saturday, Nov. 2, a kizomba workshop will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. taught by Alejandro Rios. This is a dance with roots in Africa, it is smooth and romantic. Free!
On Mondays at 7:30 a salsa class is taught at I-House by Carlos Whyles and on Tuesdays Damien Kima teaches tango at 7:30 p.m. There is a small charge for non-members at these two ongoing classes.
On Thursday, Nov. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m, a flamenco workshop will be taught by Rocio Pelayo Garcia of Spain, who is studying at Davis for the fall quarter. Also free!
